“The City has been providing senior day trips through our Parks Department since 2004.  With the expansion of our parks over the past 5 years with the Splash Pad, Pool at SIUE, and the new Plummer Family Sports Park, it is an appropriate time to reallocate resources.  We have had a great working relationship with the Main Street Community Center for 45 years as they work to serve our local seniors.  Since they also have a quality senior day trip program, it seemed like a good opportunity to partner and offer an expanded program to those we have served, “states City Administrator Kevin Head.

Like the City, the Community Center believes the partnership will be seamless and provide additional opportunities for the travelers.   “Our day trip and overnight travel programs have grown significantly over the past 5 years – and when we were approached about this opportunity, it seemed like a natural fit.   The City has some wonderful signature E.S.C.A.P.E. trips that we will continue – and add to the variety of local trips we provide each year,” according to Sara Berkbigler, Executive Director of Main Street Community Center.

The E.S.C.A.P.E. schedule in 2020 promises to offer a variety of trips that will appeal to many including trips to Sheldon Concert Hall, an SIUE Arts & Issues performance, Gateway Arch, Stages St. Louis, Grants Farm, Amish Country, a riverboat cruise, tour of the Federal Reserve Bank Museum and Old Courthouse, Scott Air Force Base, Elsah and the Great River Road, a haunted tour of Alton, some Cardinal’s games, and holiday trips to see the Holiday Brass and the St. Louis Symphon
