Departments & Staff
The elected officials, employees and departments of the City of Edwardsville work to serve the community. City operations are accomplished via the departments of the City, which are listed below along with a description of their main functions.

Administration
This department is responsible for overall City operations. Key staff members include the City Administrator and City Clerk.

Ambulance Service
The Fire Department and Ambulance is responsible for fire prevention and maintenance of ambulance service within the city limits. The Fire Chief also serves as the Emergency Services and Disaster Agency Coordinator.

City Attorney / Corporation Counsel
Jeffrey S. Berkbigler is the City's attorney.

Community and Economic Development
The Community and Economic Development staff works to support existing and potential businesses in Edwardsville.

Emergency Management Agency
The City of Edwardsville established the City Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) to prevent, minimize, repair and alleviate injury or damage resulting from disaster caused by enemy attack, sabotage or other hostile action or from natural or man made disaster.

Finance Department
The Finance Department oversees a host of City services, including utility accounts and billing, birth and death certificates within the City and numerous other duties. The finance director also oversees the yearly budget under the direction of the elected officials.

The Fire Department and Ambulance is responsible for fire prevention and maintenance of ambulance service within the city limits. The Fire Chief also serves as the Emergency Services and Disaster Agency Coordinator.

Information Technology & Communications
The Department of Information Technology & Communication oversees the development, implementation, and use of technology to meet municipal needs throughout the City.

Parks & Recreation
Parks & Recreation is responsible for maintenance, events, sports and other programming in the City's many parks.

Police Department
The Police Department is responsible for policing the city streets and assisting citizens with safety issues. The department also provides services and programs related to crime prevention and education, including the D.A.R.E. curriculum and School Resource Officer program.

Public Library
The historic Edwardsville Public Library is a hub of services, educational opportunities, community programs, books and other media.

Public Works
The Public Works Department is responsible for the City's utilities and infrastructure, including its streets, water and sewer operations. Planning and zoning and community and economic development activities also fall within this department's scope.
